Actor, Artist, and Maker of Many Things
I'm Simone, a multi-disciplinary artist, classically trained actor, and theatre creator. I am the co-Artistic Director of Arrowwood Theatre Co. and I hold an honours, Bachelor of Fine Arts, in Acting from the University of Windsor. My professional experience scaffolds more than a decade of arts training in acting, dance, vocals, visual arts, and photography. I have additional training experience with the Stratford Festival, Theatre Gargantua, Theatre Passe Muraille, Shakespeare Bash’d, and internationally through Wayne State University, and The Chautauqua Institution. My artistic practice is driven by an interest in collective creation, expressive movement, heightened realism, and the innate artistry of the human experience.
The Wolves (2019)
As an actor, I recently performed as Rose in Nurses: Then and Now (Shakespeare in Action), Sara in the Canadian premiere of Feral (EmerGENce Theatre), What's on Your Mind? (Dance:Corps), Lady Marchmont in The Cassilis Engagement (University Players), #46 in The Wolves (University Players), Daedalus/Simone in ICARUS (Arrowwood Theatre Co.), and Elena in Hannah Moscovich's, USSR. I was also chosen as 1 of 3 finalists in Mandy's North American Monologue Competition 2021 (see here).
As a writer, my digital poetry collection, "After the Apocalypse", developed through Theatre Passe Muraille's Centre Court, premiered as part of the 2021 Paprika Festival (see here) and has recently been remounted for Nightwood Theatre's, Fempocalypse. I have created work for theatre festivals such as The Toronto Fringe Festival (ICARUS 2019) and Dark Crop, Ontario's first 24-hour outdoor theatre festival (ICARUS, 2019; Here and There, 2018), and more. This past June, I created and produced, Contactless, an exploration of Love and intimacy for Soulpepper's, QUEERFUTURES2099 (see here).
At present, I am developing my solo show, Suppressed, as well as my theatrical theory, "Theatre of Cringe".
Upcoming works include LYSISTRATA (Arrowwood Theatre Co.) generously funded by the Ontario Arts Council and Theatre Passe Muraille, and Sleepwalker (NAP Studios Films).
